A new era of Kentucky football is kicking off as Will Stein has taken the reins as the Wildcats’ head coach, ending Mark Stoops’ tenure in Lexington.
Despite a rough last few years, Coach Stoops helped drag UK football out of the gutter and ascend to heights the program had never seen. Including two 10-win seasons, a plethora of NFL draft picks, and more, the journey was a fun one under Stoops.
That is why seeing his goodbye from the Stoops to the BBN is one that will get you in your feels.
“To all of my former players, coaches, staffers, and the Big Blue Nation, from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” Stoops shared in a Twitter post. “Coaching at Kentucky the last 13 years has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I’ve felt your support, your pride, and your love every single day. Kentucky has become my home, and I’ll be forever grateful to have been your head coach.”
Luckily, it seems that the fanbase has really thanked Stoops for his time here after the decision to move on. Meaning there will be a day in the near future that we can all celebrate and remember the accomplishments he achieved here in Lexington.
