Thembinkosi Lorch provided a crucial assist as Wydad Athletic Club secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Tanzanian outfit Azam FC in the CAF Confederation Cup on Friday.
In a match that saw the home team fire 20 shots at goal, it was the visiting side that broke the deadlock in the 57th minute through Nordin Amrabat, who pounced on Lorch's assist.
As a result, the Moroccan giants maintained their position at the summit of Group B with six points accumulated from two matches.
Meanwhile, Lorch has now registered back-to-back assists in the Confed Cup, having grabbed an assist in the group stage opener against Nairobi United last week.
Furthermore, the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates star has two assists and as many goals in his last four appearances in the Confed and the Botola Pro League combined.
Overall, Lorch has nine goal contributions in 11 appearances across all competitions for Wydad in the ongoing 2025/26 campaign.
Despite that, Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is not tempted to recall the 32-year-old playmaker to the national team fold as he consistently snubs him.
The Belgian mentor omitted Lorch from his Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) preliminary squad, with the continental showpiece set to be staged in Morocco next month.
