The Pittsburgh Steelers received some great news regarding Aaron Rodgers’ wrist injury ahead of the Week 13 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, courtesy of HC Mike Tomlin.
During Tuesday’s press conference, Tomlin expressed “great optimism” about Rodgers’ odds of suiting up against the Bills — ideal news for the Black and Gold offense.
“Aaron, obviously, worked his tail off to get to us last week,” Tomlin said. “But as I mentioned over the course of the weekend, it was the prudent and appropriate decision [to start Mason Rudolph]. We’ll start this week with great optimism, although we certainly will limit him at the early portions of the week, provide opportunities for the other quarterbacks while preserving him. But, again, we’re comfortable with the general trajectory.”
It appears Rodgers is finally ready to return from his fractured left wrist — the one he suffered in the Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals — which left QB Mason Rudolph to step in during the second half.
Rudolph had some solid moments in the Week 12 loss to the Chicago Bears, but between his two costly turnovers and overall struggles in the passing game, Pittsburgh just couldn’t get the job done without Rodgers.
