Badgers stars drafted No. 1, No. 19 in inagural season of MLV

The Wisconsin Badgers had a nice win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Field House on Sunday, marking their seventh-straight win and 15th in conference play.

They moved up one spot in the Top 25 from No. 11, breaking back into the Top 10 heading into the final week of the regular season.

That wasn’t the only good news for the Badgers this week, as Wisconsin saw two of its stars drafted ahead of the inaugural Major League Volleyball season.

Star outside hitter Mimi Colyer was selected No. 1 by the Dallas Pulse, while Carter Booth was taken No. 19 overall to Dallas as well.

Colyer has been fantastic for Wisconsin since arriving in the offseason, averaging 5.37 kills per set, 5.97 points per set, 2.13 digs per set, and 0.70 blocks per set. She recently surpassed Sarah Franklin for the most kills in a conference season with 312, and former All-American Dana Rettke for consecutive matches with double-digit kills with 13.

Booth, on the other hand, is hitting a team-best .429, averaging 1.96 kills per set, 2.67 points per set, and 2.67 blocks per set. She reached a few milestones of her own this season, getting to 500 career blocks and tying her career-best of 10 blocks in a three-set match when the Badgers faced Michigan State.

Before they depart Madison, both Badgers stars will look to propel the team on a postseason run, which will begin after the final week of the regular season.
