Indiana Pacers rookie Taelon Peter neared a double-double in the G League on Saturday, helping lead the Noblesville Boom in a loss against the Motor City Cruise.
Peter produced 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in the 107-96 loss at The Arena at Innovation Mile. He went 6-of-16 from the field, including 5-of-14 from 3-point range, in 38 minutes in his debut as the Boom dropped to 0-7.
The performance took place in front of several Pacers teammates who sat courtside, including Tyrese Haliburton, Jay Huff and Johnny Furphy. The players also took pictures and signed autographs for the fans in attendance at the contest.

Peter is averaging 1.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 25% shooting from the field in 11 appearances with the Pacers. He tallied a season-high five points, four assists and three rebounds on Nov. 15 in a loss to the Toronto Raptors.
The 23-year-old has been thrust into the rotation to begin the season, with the Pacers experiencing several injuries in the early going. The team has been forced to sign multiple players to the roster using a hardship exception granted by the NBA.
Peter drew praise from the Pacers throughout training camp for the way he can impact games on both ends of the court. The team will be looking to tap into his potential throughout the season, either in the G League or with the main roster.
