Nebraska (25-0, 15-0) visited Los Angeles for the first of two matches in the city. The Huskers began with a Friday after dark clash with the UCLA (14-11, 8-7). The Bruins played spoiler by ending a few of Nebraska's streaks. But the Huskers took down the Bruins 3-1 to improve to 25-0.
UCLA fought hard in the first three sets, but Nebraska still went up 2-0. The Bruins finally broke through in set three with a 25-19 win, ending the Huskers' streaks in consecutive sweeps and set wins. Nebraska tallied 15 consecutive sweeps and 48 straight set wins, two shy and five shy of the program record set back in 2007.
The Huskers, however, quickly bounced back in set four, surging to a 25-15 win to take the match. Nebraska finished with a .299 hitting percentage, earning 53 kills off 137 total attacks. The Bruins, however, hit 55-of-136 and even out-dug the Huskers 59-48. But errors plagued UCLA, leading to a .221 attack percentage. Nebraska only suffered 12 attack errors while the Bruins coughed up 25.
Andi Jackson, Harper Murray and Rebekah Allick led the way for Nebraska in the win, combining for 42 kills. Jackson finished the night going 15-of-24 with no errors. Murray brought the onslaught, delivering 42 total attacks and earning 14 kills. Allick tallied 13 kills off 25 attacks and posted a team-high seven blocks.
Taylor Landfair finished just behind Allick in blocks, racking up six in the win while also earning five kills off 20 attacks. Bergen Reilly grabbed another double-double on the year after tallying 34 set assists and 11 digs. She also snatched two kills off seven attacks. Laney Choboy led the team in digs, grabbing 14 on the night.
The Huskers remain out in Los Angeles, visiting the USC Trojans for a Sunday afternoon bout. The first serve is set for 2 p.m. CT on B1G+.
