NFL still owes Nick Sirianni an apology for snubbing him in favor of Brian Daboll

Though it should be treated as water under the bridge, it isn’t. Well… It’s feasible that Nick Sirianni has moved on, but that’s why the Philadelphia Eagles‘ coaches are coaches and why the media does what it does. See? Everyone has their role here.

Coach Sirianni’s role is to prepare his team for the road game against the pesky Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The media’s job is to find clever angles and tell fascinating stories.

So, as intriguing as the coming Week 4 game is at Raymond James Stadium, Birds fans can also find joy in what’s been going on in a rival’s organization. No one wants to get their hands dirty, huh? That’s okay. No worries. We’ll say what should be evident to everyone.

The New York Giants‘ continuing and ongoing collapse is just as satisfying as any Eagles win. Brian Daboll, the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year, seems to be on a hot seat whose temperature rises by the day. Oh, and speaking of that 2022 NFL Coach of the Year trophy…

The NFL should revoke Brian Daboll’s 2022 Coach of the Year trophy and award it to Nick Sirianni.

Before the 2022 NFL season began, the Giants weren’t predicted by anyone to finish higher than third in the NFC East. Everyone knew divisional superiority came down to a two-team race.

Everyone saw the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys as the two best teams in that division. When the smoke cleared and the dust settled, Philly, Dallas, and New York finished the regular season ranked first, second, and third in the NFC East, respectively.

Nick Sirianni had led his Birds to the top seed in the National Football Conference. For some reason, Brian Daboll took home NFL Coach of the Year honors.

Again, everyone predicted his third-place finish. He delivered a third-place finish. In what world does that justify the best coaching job in the NFL that season, or the best coaching job in any season?

Fast forward to the present, and Sirianni’s snub hasn’t aged well. Since it occurred, he has led the Eagles to two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl win. He led Philadelphia to a combined record of 25-9 during the 2023 and 2024 regular seasons. He’s 3-0 this season. For his career, he is 6-3 with a 66.7% winning percentage during the postseason.

Daboll, since winning COY honors, is a combined 9-28. He hasn’t led the Giants to a postseason birth since 2022. He’s 0-3 this season.

This will only add injury to insult (or vice versa). Daboll is supposed to be a quarterback whisperer. Daniel Jones failed under his watch. He left. He joined the Indianapolis Colts, and he has gotten better.

Jones is 3-0 this season under former Eagles assistant Shane Steichen. That’s further evidence that the Daboll experiment is failing. Believe it or not, his clock may have sped up now that the Giants have benched Russell Wilson in favor of Jaxson Dart. If the youngster doesn’t gain any traction the rest of the way, Daboll may not survive the end of the season.
