Luka Doncic suffered an injury scare in Slovenia friendly on Saturday

Luka Doncic sat out Slovenia's last two friendlies in recent days, but on Saturday, he was back on the court as his native country continued to prepare for EuroBasket 2025 by taking on Latvia. It provided Los Angeles Lakers fans to get another glimpse of him and his new and improved physique during midsummer as they wait for the new NBA season to get underway.

However, disaster seemed to strike when Doncic collided with a teammate and appeared to injure his knee. To that point, he had posted 26 points and five assists in the first half, and he was forced to leave the game.

The good news is that, per Dan Woike of The Athletic, the superstar didn't suffer any serious or significant injury.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Doncic has a right knee contusion.

Some Lakers fans have been concerned that since Doncic is representing his country this summer, he may either suffer an injury or simply take some unnecessary wear and tear into the 2025-26 NBA season. However, injuries can happen at any time, and after all, LeBron James, at age 39, played for Team USA men's basketball last summer without getting hurt while helping to deliver a gold medal.
