Mark McMorris stands on the podium after winning a silver medal at the 2025 Winter X-Games competition, next to Red Gerard and Taiga Hasegawa. (X-Games/X)Three-time Olympic medalist Mark McMorris stomped his final trick at the 2025 Winter X-Games competition, landing a backside 1620 to secure his silver medal.
On Saturday afternoon in Aspen, Colo., the snowboarder originally from Regina battled it out against competitors from around the world in the men’s snowboard slope-style event, which consists of three rail features, followed by three large jumps.
McMorris’ final run wasn’t quite enough to edge out the American 2018 Olympic gold medallist Red Gerard, who took gold. Japan’s Taiga Hasegawa landed in third place for the bronze.
“As a kid, I just hoped to someday participate [in the] X-Games … Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would come this far,” McMorris posted on Instagram Sunday afternoon.

His brother Craig, also a part of the commentary team for the games and former medallist, was called up last minute for the street-style event, but was bumped out in the first heat.
