Sean Brady calls ‘bullsh*t’ on Kamaru Usman deserving UFC title shot

Sean Brady doesn’t understand how Kamaru Usman is in the title picture.

Usman (21-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC) is campaigning for a title shot after snapping a three-fight losing skid with a win over Joaquin Buckley in June. Although top contenders Michael Morales, Carlos Prates, and Ian Machado Garry are coming off big wins, UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev likes the idea of Usman next.

Brady (18-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC), who was knocked out by Morales at UFC 322, was not impressed with Machado Garry’s win over Belal Muhammad at UFC Fight Night 265. He certainly doesn’t see former champion Usman as worthy for a fight against Makhachev (28-1 MMA, 17-1 UFC).

“There’s no way Ian gets it next – I don’t think so,” Brady said on his “BradyBagz Show.” “First of all, the least deserving of it is Kamaru Usman. I don’t know how they’re angling this, trying to push him to the title. Mutual friendship, same manager. I understand what they’re trying to do, but that’s bullsh*t.

“I personally – obviously, he beat me – I think Morales is the most deserving out of everybody. Undefeated, 19-0, just beat me. I was the No. 1 contender. No. 2 would be Prates, I think, is right there. I think he would deserve it more. Shavkat (Rakhmonov) doesn’t deserve a title shot. He’s got to get back in the race. He’s just sitting on the sidelines.”

Brady would give Usman no chance against Makhachev.

“He lost three fights in a row, beat Buckley,” Brady said of Usman. “I think Islam is going to run through him. I think Morales is big. He’s strong. He’ll give Islam the hardest time. I think (Makhachev) smokes Prates. He’ll just take him down. … Let Usman go fight Shavkat.”
