Badgers land transfer DL, get early boost in the portal

The Wisconsin Badgers secured a commitment from Grand Valley State defensive lineman Jibriel Conde, he announced on Saturday.

Conde, a 6’5, 280-pound defensive lineman, is considered the best defensive lineman currently in the transfer portal according to 247Sports, and is a good get for Wisconsin early.

The Badgers went hard at the position this offseason, but they do have quite a few seniors, with Ben Barten, Jay’Viar Suggs, Darryl Peterson, and others all out of eligibility.

Wisconsin has publicly revealed it plans to be a spender under head coach Luke Fickell this offseason, and it got in early on the action with Conde, who has connections to several Badgers players and coach Matt Mitchell.

Wisconsin went hard at front seven players in the transfer portal this past year as well, landing seven new players, of which several have become rotational pieces. We’ll see how many they look to target this offseason after a quality year for their defensive linemen.

Wisconsin still has its final game of the season, facing off against the Minnesota Gophers on Saturday, with kickoff slated at 2:30 p.m. But, they’re getting a head start on the offseason in the process.
