Breaking: Three match Champions League ban for Bayern Munich’s Luis Díaz per report

According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk, Nico Linner, and Heiko Niedderer (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich winger Luis Díaz has been given a three-game suspension for his red card vs. Paris Saint-Germain:

Luis Díaz has been handed a 3-match ban following his red card against PSG. Bayern had expected a one-match ban. The club has requested the written justification of the ruling from UEFA in order to appeal the decision.

Yikes.

That is a steep suspension for Díaz, who might be getting slammed harder because the action was likely deemed fully unnecessary. Missing the Colombian for three games will represent a massive challenge for the Bavarians given how good the former Liverpool man has been, but it will also represent some opportunity for other players like Lennart Karl and Nicolas Jackson.

As noted, Bayern Munich can still appeal the decision, but Reuters has also confirmed the report.
