Nebraska basketball lands commitment from four-star shooting guard Jacob Lainer

Nebraska basketball and a commitment on Sunday afternoon from 2027 four-star shooting guard Jacob Lanier. He made the announcement on social media.

Lanier is the 90th overall player in the 2026 class, the 13th overall shooting guard, and the second overall player in his class from the state of Arkansas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Lanier measures in at six-foot-five, 180 pounds.

He has the potential to fit very well in a Fred Hoiberg offense. He shoots 42% on catch-and-shoot threes and 46% from behind the arc when unguarded. He also shoots 84% at the free-throw line, according to his 247Sports profile.

This is another significant addition for a 2026 class that is small but talented. Lanier joins forward  Colin Rice as the second member of the recruiting class. The class itself ranks 29th overall in the country per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

This is certainly a nice get for the program and is a solid addition to what should be a talented roster moving forward. The program has struggled to develop high school talent in recent years, but Lanier is certainly a positive addition.
