Reigan Heskey’s brilliance couldn’t stop Africa’s young Pharaohs from qualifying

England’s U17 team produced commanding performance to defeat Egypt 3-0 on Monday in Doha sealing second place in Group D and progression to the round of 32 at the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2025.
On the other hand, Egypt still clinched qualification as one of the eight best third-placed teams finishing the group stage with four point from three match.
Heskey delivers double for Young Lions
England’s victory was inspired by Manchester City forward Reigan Heskey who scored brace and once again demonstrated why he’s among the tournament’s standout talents.
The son of former England striker Emile Heskey, Reigan opened the scoring in the 14 minute with powerful right-footed strike from the edge of the box.
He doubled the lead early in the second half (54) after racing clear on counterattack and finishing calmly beneath Egypt’s goalkeeper Omar Abdelaziz.
Abdelaziz, however had his moment of glory in the 64 minute saving Heskey’s penalty to deny the Englishman hat-trick. But England sealed victory in the 89 minute when Harrison Miles fired home third to cap dominant display.

Group standings and qualification
Egypt will advance to the round of 32 as one of the best third-placed nations joining other African sides still in contention such as Morocco, Nigeria and Senegal.
