Mississippi State DB ejected for brutal targeting penalty vs Georgia

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Lawson Luckie took a massive hit to the head late in the first half of the Georgia at Mississippi State Bulldogs game. Mississippi State defensive back Jahron Manning was ejected for targeting for the hit, which was clearly targeting. Manning's hit caused Luckie's head to hit another Mississippi State player's leg.

Luckie was able to walk off the field with the support of the training staff. He is unlikely to return for the rest of the game and we'll provide updates on his status moving forward.

Manning's ejection is a big loss for Mississippi State. He leads Mississippi State in tackles. Entering the Georgia game, Manning had 64 total tackles, four pass deflections and one interception. In the first half alone, Manning had six tackles against Georgia.

Mississippi State's defense has struggled to stop Georgia throughout the game. With Luckie out, Georgia will play tight ends Oscar Delp, Elyiss Williams and Jaden Reddell more snaps.

Jahron Manning's targeting penalty

Since Manning's penalty occurred in the first half, he will not be automatically suspended for the first half of Mississippi State's game next week.
