Updated Colts’ depth chart after Germaine Pratt signing

The Indianapolis Colts announced two moves at the linebacker position on Wednesday. So now, what does the team’s projected depth chart at this position look like?

The first move announced was that the Colts were signing Germaine Pratt, who was released earlier this week by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Pratt had spent his previous six seasons playing in Cincinnati, so he will be very familiar with Lou Anarumo’s defensive system, which should allow him to hit the ground running.

Although Pratt is just arriving to Indianapolis, much like Mike Hilton at cornerback, who had played under Anarumo as well, Hilton took on a large role in his first game with the Colts, despite the quick turnaround.

So with that, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pratt thrown into the mix right away, either, with Ajiake and Muma still seeing some opportunities.

The addition of Pratt can hopefully provide some stability to the WILL linebacker position for the Colts. Through five games, it has been a revolving door at that position with Joe Bachie, Austin Ajiake, and Chad Muma all seeing playing time.

In order to make room for Pratt on the 53-man roster, the Colts placed Bachie on injured reserve. He now has to miss a minimum of four games.

While Ajiake and Muma had each seen regular snaps, Bachie was the initial starter next to Zaire Franklin at linebacker each week this season, and he would see the most playing time.
