49ers finally get good news on WR injuries with Week 4 inactives

The San Francisco 49ers on Sunday delivered good news on the injury front when they issued their list of inactives for their Week 4 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Not listed among the group of inactives were quarterback Mac Jones and wide receiver Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall. They were all questionable. Jones and Pearsall were working through knee injuries they sustained in Week 3, while Jennings was at risk of missing a second consecutive game with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 2.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday night reported Jennings and Pearsall were trending toward playing, although he did indicate Jennings could see a limited workload. The good news for the 49ers is with Demarcus Robinson back in the fold after he served his three-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, they no longer need to lean as heavily on Jennings as they might have when Robinson was out.

Here is who won’t suit up for San Francisco on Sunday:

  • WR Jordan Watkins (calf)
  • DT CJ West (thumb)
  • CB Renardo Green (neck)
  • RB Jordan James
  • WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling
  • LB Nick Martin

There are no surprises in this group. Green was questionable with a neck injury, but he trended the wrong way during the week of practice. He was limited Wednesday and Thursday, but a non-participant in Friday’s session. Veteran cornerback Eli Apple was elevated from the practice squad to provide depth. When Green was hurt in Week 3 it was Darrell Luter Jr. first off the bench to replace him at outside cornerback.

The 49ers and Jaguars will kick off at 1:05pm Pacific Time from Levi’s Stadium.
