The Green Bay Packers used an early 96-yard scoring drive, two long field goals from Brandon McManus, the first career touchdown pass from rookie Taylor Elgersma and four fumble recoveries on defense and special teams to power a 20-7 win over the Seattle Seahawks in the preseason finale on Saturday at Lambeau Field.
Quarterback Malik Willis started in place of Jordan Love and was intercepted to end the opening possession, but he immediately rebounded, leading a long scoring drive that featured an explosive play from Matthew Golden, two scrambles for first downs and a touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs.
A strip-sack from Brenton Cox Jr. set up a 48-yard field goal by McManus. Elgersma hit Will Sheppard for a 3-yard touchdown pass. And a muffed punt recovered by Corey Ballentine set up a 52-yard field goal by McManus. By halftime, the Packers led 20-0.
The Seahawks played rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe from start to finish but didn’t score until well into the fourth quarter. A potential scoring drive late in the fourth quarter ended with a mishandled shotgun snap by Milroe and a fourth fumble recovery for the Packers, who melted the rest of the clock and walked away from the preseason at 2-1.
