Rams sign offensive lineman, make 2 other roster moves

The Los Angeles Rams don’t have to trim their roster to 53 players until next week, but they’ve already started making some necessary moves. On Tuesday, the Rams cleared two roster spots and added one player.

The team announced it placed edge rusher Keir Thomas on injured reserve and waived rookie wide receiver Mario Williams with an injury designation. To fill one of those roster spots, the Rams signed offensive lineman Mike McAllister.

It’s unclear what injuries Thomas and Williams are dealing with, but Thomas’ must be significant enough to land him on IR. Thanks to a rule change in 2024, teams are allowed to place two players on IR before trimming their roster to 53 players and designate them to return. Therefore, Thomas’ season may not be over.

Williams caught two passes for 46 yards against the Chargers on Saturday, including a 38-yard touchdown from Stetson Bennett.

McAllister is a familiar face for the Rams. He spent time on their offseason roster and practice squad in 2023 and 2024, so this will be a return to Los Angeles for him. He entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie in 2023 and has never played in a regular-season game.
