Another soft-tissue injury for Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd?

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd exited Saturday's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts because of hamstring tightness, per Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Lloyd, who played in only one game as a rookie due to multiple injuries and ailments, was making his preseason debut on Saturday after missing the opener last week because of a groin injury suffered at practice.

The Packers' third-round pick in 2024 was injured after making a catch for 33 yards in the second quarter at Lucas Oil Stadium. After getting behind his defender on a wheel route, Lloyd made a stumbling catch and was hit hard to ground, including a crunching hit to the shoulder area by the Colts safety. Silverstein reports Lloyd's leg bent awkwardly and he later reported tightness in his hamstring after exiting the field. He did not return to the game.

“We'll see,” coach Matt LaFleur said when asked about Lloyd's potential injury post game.

It's unclear if Lloyd will miss time. The Packers will likely be extra cautious given his recent history with soft-tissue injuries. LaFleur's team has a joint practice and the preseason finale next week against the Seattle Seahawks, and the regular season opener is Sunday, Sept. 7, still over three weeks away.

Lloyd injured his groin while making a cut during the Packers' first padded practice of training camp.

As a rookie, Lloyd missed time to start training camp with a hip injury, suffered a hamstring injury in his preseason debut, injured his ankle in his regular season debut, reinjured his hamstring after his ankle healed and then had his season ended when he needed an appendectomy. It appears his injury luck has not improved in Year 2, even after going to the same muscle experts at UW-Madison who helped Christian Watson and Eric Stokes get over hamstring injuries last year.

Lloyd finished Saturday's preseason win with six carries for 15 yards and one catch for 33 yards.

Other running backs made plays after Lloyd exited. Emanuel Wilson had a 31-yard catch, and Israel Abanikanda and Amar Johnson both scored rushing touchdowns in the second half. The Packers finished with 159 yards rushing, including 76 from Wilson and Abanikanda.
