Neiko Mundey includes Longhorns in latest update

Over the last few months, Texas Longhorns basketball has been busy on the recruiting trail. On Friday, they had a reason to celebrate regarding the latest update from Neiko Mundey. The talented point guard who is in the 2026 class listed the Longhorns in his top eight. Texas is now hoping to get him to the Forty Acres for a visit.

As the Longhorns look to build on their momentum with Mundey, they will face competition. The other programs still in the running are Washington, USC, Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh, Auburn, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M. All of those schools would get a boost from having Mundey in their offense.

The heavy interest in Mundey has come as no surprise. He is ranked by 247Sports as the 50th-best player in his class. They also rank him as the third-best player from Maryland.

In the fall, the four-star prospect will take the next step in the recruiting process by visiting some of the schools still in the mix. He has already scheduled trips to  Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Pitt, USC, and Texas. That list could continue to grow the longer the Prince George's Christian Academy is on the board.

With no commitment date set, Texas still has time to show Mundey why his college career should start in Texas. Last season ended in disappointing fashion, but new head coach Sean Miller has been busy retooling his roster. Adding a recruit like Mundey would be a significant win as Miller looks to rebuild the program.

While the Longhorns will have to patiently wait for Mundey to think over his options, they hope his recruitment ends with him in Burnt orange.
